New - Set Instructions for Efficient Projects and Status Reports Creation

Project administrators now have the capability to set instructional guidance on how to create projects, programs, or status reports. This can be done by navigating to the Project Field Setup page, where administrators can input the necessary instructions. Once set, these instructions will be displayed in the creation dialogs, helping project managers in the process and ensuring consistency and accuracy in entries.

This enhancement streamlines the setup process, making it easier for PMOs to maintain standardization and improve operational efficiency.

Friday 19th July Release

New Project Roadmap Dashboard

We are excited to introduce a new Project Roadmap dashboard. This dashboard visually displays each project's start and end dates, RAG status, and the newly added percentage complete value. This update allows PMs and PMOs to quickly gauge the progress and status of projects at a glance, enhancing transparency and project management effectiveness. The percentage complete indicator provides a real-time snapshot of each project’s current status against its timeline, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and informed.

Fixes

  • Timesheet Approval Validation: Added validation to notify managers if a timesheet approval request has already been processed.
  • Work Insight Metrics Accuracy: Resolved an issue where work insight metrics were not displaying the correct counts.
  • Project Creation Flexibility: It is now possible to create a project without specifying an end date.
  • % Complete Calculation: For projects without an end date and no schedule, the % complete will remain at 0% until an end date or a schedule is added.
  • MPP Upload Handling: Fixed an issue with MPP uploads where phases only had a duration and no start or end dates were not created correctly. The start date is now inferred from the parent task.

Monday 15th July Patch release

New - Project Completion Tracking

We've introduced a new feature that displays the percentage completion of projects, enhancing visibility and control over project progress.

For Projects with a Schedule: The completion percentage of a project is calculated based on the progress of the parent or top-level tasks. Parent tasks can either be:

  • Auto-Calculated: The completion percentage of the parent task is automatically derived from the combined progress of its subtasks, ensuring that the parent task's completion accurately reflects the total progress of all underlying activities.
  • Manually Set: The completion percentage of the parent task is set manually but should accurately reflect the overall progress of the task and its subtasks.

For Projects without a Schedule: In projects that don’t follow a structured schedule, the percentage complete is determined by the elapsed time from the project’s start date to its end date. As time progresses, the completion percentage increases proportionally. If a project does not have an end date, then the percentage complete will default to 0%.

This feature is particularly beneficial for PMOs and project managers, providing a clear metric to assess project health and make informed decisions based on real-time progress. It simplifies reporting and enhances the ability to meet project timelines and budget constraints.

Fixes

  • Export to Word/PPT Template: Resolved an issue where generating reports from project dashboards was not correctly utilising the schedule task promotion flag.
  • Non-Resource Forecast: Enhanced functionality now allows for multiple entries with the same expense category, expense type, and currency when no financial reference values are provided.
  • Non-Resource Forecast Editing: Financial references can now be edited if there are no forecasts in locked months and the new combination of expense category, expense type, currency, and financial reference is unique.
  • PDF Report Layout: Fixed an issue where the PDF report layout was being cutoff.
  • Custom Properties: To prevent data compatibility issues, custom properties of type option can no longer be changed to multi-option.
  • Project Details Clearing: Addressed an issue where the project description field was not clearing correctly.
  • Excel Export: Corrected the Financial Detailed Export With Flex Time Details to exclude overtime columns when the Overtime feature is off. The same correction was applied to the Financial Detailed Export Non Project Lines download.

Monday 8th July Patch Release

Enhancements / Fixes

  • Gantt Order in Edit View: We've added a new column on the Gantt Edit page to display the Gantt Order. This addition allows for a more structured visualisation of tasks as per their sequence in the project timeline, enhancing the ability to manage and review project progress systematically. Remember to use the column configuration settings to select which columns you want in the view.

  • Gantt Order in Document Templates: We've also introduced the new Gantt Order binding element for PPT and Word document templates. Use the binding element {GanttOrder} in your document templates within the schedule section to dynamically reflect task order in your reports and presentations.

  • Gantt Row Re-Parenting: Fixed an issue where a refresh message was displayed incorrectly when a task was re-parented.
