Stage Gates Configuration

Stage gates are essential checkpoints within a project's lifecycle that ensure all necessary tasks and quality checks are completed before progressing to the next phase. Implementing stage gates effectively can help manage risks, allocate resources efficiently, and deliver high-quality results.

Preparing for Stage Gates Configuration


To set up stage gates in Fluid, you must first configure the project methodologies and phases. This is to allow for  stage gates to be aligned with the overall project framework and lifecycle.

Configuring Stage Gates

Once you have set up the methodologies and phases, follow these steps to configure stage gates:

  1. Access the Administration Console:

    • From the dropdown menu under your avatar, select Administration Console.

  2. Navigate to Stage Gates configuration page:

    • In the Project Settings section, select Methodologies, Phases and Stage Gates.


  3. Add and Configure Stage Gates:

    • First, you need to add the stage gates. Each gate is defined by a name, its type (entry or exit), and the stage gate criteria.

    • To add a new stage gate, click on the Add Item button. Define clear criteria for each stage gate, including required deliverables, quality standards, and approval processes.


    • Once you have set up the stage gates, go to the phase gate section to link the stage gates to the methodology phases. Click on Add Gate to Phase, select the phase and the stage gate. Click on Apply to All Project to apply the new gates to existing projects.

  4. Link Stage Gates to Methodology Phases:
    • Once you have set up the stage gates, go to the Phase Gate section to link the stage gates to the methodology phases.

    • Click on Add Gate to Phase, select the phase and the stage gate.

    • Click on Apply to All Projects to apply the new gates to existing projects.


By following these steps, you can effectively configure stage gates in Fluid, enhancing your project management capabilities and contributing to the successful execution and completion of your projects.
